KNOW

BEFORE YOU GO

Be sure you’re working with a CERTIFIED Hand Therapist (CHT)

  • A CHT is an expert in evaluation and physical therapy treatment of most conditions related to the Hand to Shoulder. They can effectively treat and rehabilitate the patient through post-operative rehabilitation, preventative, non-operative/conservative treatment and/or industry consultation. The therapist works closely with the physician and patient to provide a continuum of care. This often starts within days of the injury or surgery right through the patient’s return to work and/or a productive lifestyle.
  • What’s the difference? A Certified Hand Therapist has advanced certification through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission (HTCC.org) Learn more about this specialty at ASHT.org
  • Be sure you are going to a CHT by looking up one near you.

WE

UNDERSTAND

A person’s life can be severely affected when there is an issue with your hand(s). The hand is the most functional and valuable part of the upper extremity. At the same time, the hand is one of the most complex and intricate parts of the body.

“Every hand injury or problem is different and must be treated as such.”

Even the more common conditions of the hand, such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Trigger Fingers, may require variations in treatments and splinting/bracing. We make sure to stay up to date on the latest treatments and strategies of care for the shoulder, elbow, wrist, & hand by attending the National Hand Symposium in Philadelphia every year. This symposium is organized by The “Hand Foundation” and includes presentations from reputable Hand surgeons and Hand therapists from all over the world. Having access to a Certified Hand Therapist that is also a Doctor of Physical therapy is rare and should be taken advantage of when suffering from pain in any part of your arm!
